The guides, Vince and Di went out of their way to be helpful, and their knowledge of the area plus bush walking and culinary skills were put to good use. Our fellow walkers, previously unknown to us, were very amiable company and we shared with them an extremely worthwhile four days. We were more "senior" in years to most of the group but managed to complete most aspects of the tour without too much stress. Thank you for the opportunity to experience your great wilderness area in such comfort.
AFR - Trek for a foodie and nature lover2013-04-05T00:00:00Ztag:www.bayoffires.com.au,2013-04-05:/blog/97/australian-financial-review-trek-foodie-and-nature//

The Bay of Fires Lodge walk a gourmet adventure holiday following Tasmania's stunning north-eastern coast, writes Katrina Strickland.

I believe they both made the trip that extra special for me and for this I would like to recognise them and thank them both again.

To put things in perspective, I love travelling, walking and experience new things, however, this was the first time , I camped and carried a back pack ( okay i am a bit of a princess), and I am paranoid of snakes etc etc. However, both Cody and Kate were great with me on the walk and went out of their to make me feel extra comfortable and enjoy my experience. Both were extremely knowledgeable and their love for the environment was infectious. My appreciation for our natural environment has been boosted as a result and I look forward to future treks.

A Tale from... Not being seasoned walkers made for some challenging - but ultimately rewarding - moments.

Our delightful guides, Diana and Ed were exceptional. From their first cheery greeting and firm handshake when we got off the bus, to their knowledge of all things botanical/environmental, plus their culinary skills and constant 'joie de vivre' made the entire experience very, very memorable. Those two were indefatigable!

The vistas were breathtaking and the food and accommodation were beyond our expectations. In fact, the whole walk was!

As a group, we were trying to nail down what the 'x factor' was with the organisation, staff and experience, and could only really put it down to high calibre company values and an enrolling mission that each and every one of the staff seem to embody. For this, the organisation must be saluted.

So thank you all, once again, from the bottom of our hearts (and our weary, blistered soles).

A Tale from... Our guides were Cody and Diana.
All four of us had a fantastic experience and really enjoyed our time on the trek. It was a relaxing, fun and refreshing experience. This was particularly due to our excellent guides.

Cody's enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of fun ensured that all members of our group had an entertaining and enjoyable experience. He is hilarious and has a warm and inclusive manner. Di's warm and friendly nature and her obvious appreciation and enjoyment of the environment also encouraged us all to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Although relatively new to the job, she was wonderful. Tom was a relaxed and inviting host at the lodge, and his cooking was truly outstanding. Our time at the lodge was really enjoyable, thanks largely to the hospitality and atmosphere that Tom creates.
Your staff really are fantastic at what they do and helped us enjoy a fantastic experience.
A Tale from... We enjoyed very much.
We have so many unusual but pleasant experiences.
1. One night with no electricity. No light but sound of ocean.
2. No man-made debris on the beach. Only see weeds, shells, and sometime debris derived from fish.
3. Clear and clean ocean. A little bit cold water required us a little bit difficult decision to get into the ocean. Then we could be extraordinary refreshed in return.
4. Various wild flowers and trees.

A Tale from... Hannah and Ed led our walk. They were enthusiastic, thoughtful, well informed, accommodating and a delight to be with. We congratulate the company on providing such a memorable experience. We are now considering the Overland trek - guided of course!
A Tale from... Tassie turned on the weather for our party of 9 persons, thrown together for the trek. Plenty of time for some entertaining conversations whilst wandering along Tassie's pristine coastline, to be greeted by a chilled Tassie wine and gourmet feast at the culmination of the day, even brekky was 5 star!!
Thanks also to Tom at the lodge.
A Tale from... Every day was invigorating, stimulating and energising. Every night was like a dinner party: great company, food and wine - well earned after the days' activities. We had high expectations of our Bay of Fires experience and they were definitely exceeded. Above all, it was fun!
A Tale from... The coastal landscape, birdscape and seascape were exquisite - I can still hear the waves rolling in and crashing onto the shore. And our guides, Ed and Joel, were wonderful. It's great to see two young guys so worldy, educated, passionate and proud of the Tassie wonderland.

A Tale from... Four days might not seem like a long time away but the experience makes it seem a lot longer. The guides are knowledgable, very accommodating and culinary wizards! Even though the days are planned, you don't feel rushed or pressured in any way. So thank you Shelley, James and Harley for a wonderful escape. The long stretches of white sand, turquoise waters and lichen-covered rocks provide a wonderful palette of colour and natural beauty as you stroll along with your companions and guides, with no other human beings in sight!

We were joined by some wonderful companions - thanks to Liselle, Monica, David, Andrea, Annie, Helen & Carol for your company. Our guides, Joel & Nicky were exceptional - providing insight and humour along the way. They also work really hard so lots of kudos to them.

The Bay of Fires lodge is superb - comfortable, peaceful and perfectly situated. The food & wine provided is also fantastic. It was really hard to leave and a culture shock to return to normality. Thank you to everyone for a great holiday.

A Tale from... Your organisation is very professional and I felt looked after with a high level of detail every step of the way. It allowed me to relax and enjoy our holiday with a good combination of some hard work (walking / kayaking) and luxury. Tassie also put on the good weather for us – the usual I suspect - and our guides Jordy and Ingrid were super-super good! They were so informative and highly adaptable to our needs and a pleasure to hang out with. They were highly professional and we had a good many laughs too. A perfect combination.

Thanks to your whole team - everyone involved each step of the way.

I will spread the word…..

All the best for 2012,

A Tale from... In many places, far more beautiful than it is with them. The Bay of Fires is beautiful in its natural state - but if we did not go there, how would we know? How would others know?

So, in the going, we discover the beauty and natural intricacy of the place, and leave in awe and wonder that the Big Bang could produce such things. But these thoughts, these feelings and appreciations are human constructs - internal reactions to an externality. When we share them with others, they are reflected so that we can test them, check them from another perspective, and because we are social creatures, we find pleasure in that process. Sounds a bit clinical, but the pleasure is real and earthy!

The pleasure I found in these shared and reflected experiences last week are a real treasure. Our guides, Hannah and Monique, are gems of humans in their own right, and with our other travelling companions added a whole new level of joy and laughter, and discovery too.

Paddy Pallin once said that the only trips he regrets are the ones he didn't do. That's true, but there are some trips that stand out because they are more than just covering ground, they are uncovering a soul. The Bay of Fires in 2011 did that for me.

I s'pose I could have just said 'fantastic - loved it!' - would have been shorter. But life's too short to abbreviate. ;-)
A Tale from...
